Taken back in March- I’ve had a few extra minutes lately to go through the photos from my travels to Switzerland.
Renowned as one of the most important castle sites in Switzerland, the 12th C. Château d’Aigle, surrounded by vineyards, towers above the town. It has a square keep, numerous small towers and a balcony from which boiling pitch was poured down. This former residence of the Bernese provincial governors served as the district prison until 1972 and today houses an important viticultural museum.
