The Sigur Rós video is coming along

Well - I've actually been working on this and really glad that I have. I wasn't sure if I would have time, or if I could come up with something, but I have. I've been shooting all week here and there and am mostly done filming. I may have a little scene here or there to do but it's mostly done.
It's the first time that I have worked on a project in HD, so it's been a great learning process. I use to do this type of stuff all the time in college, but the past few years I really haven't had a chance (nor time).

But it's fun to put in some work that is all about art and being creative. That kind of stuff get's my blood pumping.

We are in the midst of Holiday season- and just trying to keep my head on to complete some projects and get them out the door.

The Sigur Rós video is due December 5th so i've got to get the ball rolling. I'll be posting it to youtube soon and of course a higher quality version on my site.

If you don't know what I am talking about at all, read my last post :)

Edit the new Sigur Rós mini-documentary

Now this is really cool. I think I'll pass on the Tori Amos video for this new competion. I just stumbled upon this a second ago- while browsing Sigur Ros' new mini site for their new DVD/ album that is coming out this month. It's available everywhere except here in the states.
The premise for this contest is that you download all the extra footage from the film and put it together and upload it to Youtube. The judges will be the band, the managers and the editor of the film.

THIS IS AWSOME! As you can tell some of the videos I have on my site are with Sigur Ros songs so this will be great to do. If I were to choose between the Tori Amos and this contest, this one would win hands down.
Hey- it's all about how you spend your free time.

Anyway-the details aren't up yet when the contest starts/ends but you can go ahead and start downloading the footage.

happy editing and downloading.

Just Downloaded In Rainbows

So after thinking about it for a while, I changed my mind about the last post I made about the new Radiohead album. I figured they are going out on limb to offer the album for what ever I would pay for it. The money counts now. It also counts when the CD is released, but this is the big tester- ie offering it for download and potentially free.

So I made decided to pay the reasonable I-Tunes pricing for a new album, $10 U.S or 5 Pounds. Will I still by the CD for $15 dollars? Probably. Why- Because they deserve it.

I'm on track two-Bodysnatchers now.

Good stuff.

Here is the album art if you want it for your I-Tunes/I-Pod

New Radiohead Album in October- you decide on price

One of my all time favorite bands- Radiohead is releasing their new album called "In Rainbows" DRM free in mid-October. They don't have a contract with EMI anymore and are releasing it on their own. The catch- you go to there website and purchase it. How much? You decide. You can even pay nothing for it. What an amazing concept. In december they will release the album on CD and record.

These guys are amazing. Not sure what I will do, but my first thought is to download it for free and then when the album comes about buy it on CD. I always buy my favorite bands on CD, then import it into I-Tunes. And not to mention you can't buy Radiohead on I-Tunes. They only want to sell full albums and not by tracks.

Heima Tralier

As you may know, I am a huge Sigur Rós fan. I was lucky enough to see them live in Atlanta in 2005 with my wife. She had never really listen to them before and after the concert she really caught the bug.

It was an emotional and excellent concert. Made me feel young (though i am not really old :)

So, Sigur Rós is releasing a DVD of footage of them and their homeland (Iceland) along with different concerts they performed around their. check out this trailer for it.

The Arcade Fire in Atlanta

The Arcade Fire in ATL, originally uploaded by mdshivers.

I've been really excited for the past few months to go to the Arcade Fire concert here in Atlanta. It was yesterday, May 1st and so the day had finally come. My friend Jeff Weaver and I left work to head to La Fonda (a small little Latin food joint) on Ponce de Leon. I got my salmon burrito and a couple of beers. Jeff didn't really know much about Arcade Fire so I was happily telling him about the group, yada yada. Well next thing I know, the lead singer Wim and his brother Will (guitarist and keyboardest and so much more) come inside for dinner! Wow is the least I could say.

So i saw them and really wanted to talk to them, but I didn't want to be the freak show all up in their buisness. Decided to go for it and struck up a quick conversation. Great guys indeed. They are really nice people and down to earth. No one recognized them in the restaurant, so it was pretty relaxed and such.

anyway- asked to get a picture with them, and they were really cool about it. So it just amplified my great impression of them and their music,. We parted ways and I told them i'd see them in a few hours....

The concert rocked! It was such a great show and the energy was amazing. This group is really talented and have a lot to offer to the music scene of today.

I'll be posting pictures of that soon....

Arcade Fire Concert

That's right! Going to the Arcade Fire concert tonight in Atlanta Civic Center. Should be awesome. If you haven't heard of the Arcade Fire, go listen now. Truly one of the best indie/rock/something really new music in the past 20 years. I've really enjoyed listening to their new album, "Neon Bible". Anyway I am out the door now, so I'll write up more a review of the concert in the next couple of days.

I'm excited!

Video remixed

Music video for the song "How to Save a Life". I made this video a few years back. I recently saw howtosavealife.com website and it said to make your own video with the song. So i did some re-edits to the original video and decided to put it on YouTube.

Sigur Ros in Atlanta

Wow- is all i can really say. The concert was in the Atlanta Symphony Hall in art district of atlanta. The concert was so refreshing and energizing. The band played their heart's out and were very passionate about their music. I love the band- though when i first heard them a few years back, i didn't know what to think. Laurie really enjoyed it too- and it was her first time really listening to their music. I had my camera and took a lot of photos' and some of them turned out pretty good. I took this picture that is posted. Anyway- check the band out if you hadn't heard of them. Its really refreshing to hear music that is not mainstream.
